North Carolina has several food as medicine and lifestyle medicine initiatives

In the mountains, Brevard is the first certified Blue Zones community in North Carolina and MAHEC in Asheville has a lifestyle medicine residency program

In the Piedmont Triangle area, the UNC Department of Family Medicine in Chapel Hill has a lifestyle medicine residency program

At the coast, there is a Dean Ornish lifestyle medicine certified cardiac rehab center in Wilmington with Novant Health

The PLANT providers want to be part of this progress in the Piedmont Triad with health care and any other areas that affect the health of our community

We welcome the good news that recently, in the Piedmont Triad, a Pritikin lifestyle medicine cardiac rehab program has started in Greensboro

Mission Statement

The PLANT providers are dedicated to the fundamental principles of lifestyle medicine, especially the core component of whole food plant based nutrition. To advance this essential cause, the PLANT providers collaborate with healthcare providers, educate and support patients and other members of the community, build partnerships with local organizations and healthcare systems, and advocate for change with lifestyle medicine at the local, state, and national level.
